Golf is one of the most popular activities in Tallapoosa county, with its three course offering a wide range of holes for players of all skill levels. Within a 20-minute drive is the Grand National Course, part of the Robert Trent Jones golf trail.
Dadeville is located on the shore of beautiful Lake martin, a 45,000 acre man-made lake. With 750 miles of shoreline, this wonderful lake has been recently chosen as the No. 1 Retirement Spot in the United State. Fishing is a popular activity all year long. If boating is your game, you can boat for hours on Lake Martin and never see the same spot twice. There is fun to be had on lake martin from goats to graveyards and bald eagles, the islands and banks of Lake Martin offer a variety of activities and areas for audiences of all ages to explore. Wind Creek State Park offers full camping facilities.
StillWaters is one of the most beautiful resorts along the 750-mile shoreline of magnificent Lake Martin. Nestled within Alabama's natural woodlands, a remarkable place for golfing, fishing and boating or pure relaxation. StillWaters has on site a fire department and rescue unit.
Hunting is a popular activity. There are several major reserves within 50 miles of Dadeville. Alabama's three and one-half month deer season offers hunters a one-deer-per day limit - the most liberal known.
Horseshoe Bend National Military Park is approximately 10 miles on Highway 49N. There is a military museum on the site with hiking and picnic areas around the battlefields. The park is located on the horseshoe of the Tallapoosa River and is the site of the bloodiest battle of the Creek War against the Creek Indians over 180 years ago.
The Dadeville Parks and Recreation Department has a large recreation center where many indoor programs are held. The City also has area parks which provide picnic areas, outdoor basketball courts, a softball complex, tennis courts and many large free-lay areas. The newest edition to Dadeville is Keebler Park featuring the community-built 5000 sq.ft. playground "Creation Plantation". Keebler Park also has a wonderful walking trail through a beautiful wooded area with picnic tables and arbors for your pleasure.
Alabama Power Company welcomes the public to its recreational park on Lake Martin. The park, located about six miles west of Dadeville at the end of Young's Ferry Road, features a boat ramp and many opportunities for fun at the lake. The park has a beach area, two pavilions accommodating 25-30 people, 13 picnic tables with grills, two fishing piers and an amphitheater that seats 75. One of the piers is handicap accessible. The park is open from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. daily during the summer through September 13 and then on weekends through October 4.
